Editorial Reviews:

This book will help you determine whether selling seriously on eBay is right for you and, if it is, how to go about it in a profitable way. The recommendations are intended especially for consignment sellers, but most apply equally to other forms of inventory sourcing. Applying just one of the recommendations in this book can save you many times the purchase price. This book has been revised to reflect the changes that eBay and PayPal made in Spring 2008. The author has been through an eBay consignment business as a partner in a startup and as a sole proprietor of an eBay Drop Off Store. Follow his advice and you can have an eBay business without having to learn his lessons the hard way.

When you are considering a move into new entrepreneurial adventure your first instinct is to seek advice from those who have "been there". The author of this book has "been there" and managed to survive the experience with a high degree of success.

I enjoyed the book and found it insightful and fun to read. I prefer my lessons in measured doses with a bit of sweetner to make them easier to swallow. The authors " warts and all" description of his odyssey of discovery in the land of consignment selling managed to provide practical advice, business plan blueprints and insights in a relaxed conversational manner.

At the end of the book I found I had throughly enjoyed our "conversation" and had walked away with an armload of practical advice that I had the desire and ability to implement.

People should ignore the reviewer who gave it one star - this book is great! I really appreciated the completely honest tone and information in this book. I am considering starting an eBay consignment business and this book gave me great insights into what is involved. He gives great advice about what to consider when evaluating whether consignment would be a good fit for your personality, and the type of employees you need to hire to help make the business successful. He held nothing back and gave great inside information on the mechanics of the business. I highly recommend this book for anyone considering going into consignment, or for those already in it that are looking for advice on making it more successful!

I thought this book was not very good, actually. I have no idea why anyone would post 4 or 5 star reviews of this book. It has a lot of information about Ebay itself, including the most recent changes.

It has pretty limited information about running an Ebay consignment store or trading post and nothing at all about being a trading assistant working from one's home.

Although I have not read Skip McGrath's book on this subject because of negative reviews (I have some of his other books, which, in contrast, are excellent), there are several much better books.

Also, there are some parts that just do not make sense because the word "no" or "not" was included by mistake.

I would recommend the Trading Assistant's Assistant, Ebay to the Max, or The Ebay Entrepeneur.

I did learn one thing which has been confirmed in my own Ebay business. Shipping to Italy is best avoided, as the post office in that country seems to "lose" things you send there, to the disappoint of your Ebay customers.

I liked this book a lot. It's another book on how to make money using eBay as the backbone to your small retail business. More accurately - it is a book on owning and operating an eBay consignment (or trading assistant) business. It has the following "13" chapters:

1. Is consignment selling on eBay something that should work for you?
2. Where are you getting items to sell on eBay?
3. Opening an eBay consignment store
4. Software and technology regarding your store
5. The mechanics of the business in general
>>6. Intake
>>7. Photos
>>8. Description
>>9. Launching auctions
>>10. Auctions and Post-action
>>11. Paying consignors
A. eBay's changes as eBay describes them
B. Feedback, the old way

There seem to be quite a number of eBay specialists who want to share their knowledge and expertise with the masses. The author of this book seems to be another one of them. I must say he has done a splendid job explaining how he founded his own eBay trading assistant (consignment) business in northern NJ, and ran it for a few years before selling it because it didn't quite fit his lifestyle requirements.

A little over a year ago I read and reviewed a similar tome to the instant one. See "The eBay Entrepreneur" (ISBN: 141958328X). If you are interested in buying or starting your own eBay consignment store, then I highly recommend you get the instant book being reviewed along with The eBay Entrepreneur. They cover the same material but give you two different (but similar) perspectives and information. You will hedge your bets in being successful if you use both books to help you put together a business plan and learn the tricks and secrets of the trade. You'll also be able to make reasonable and somewhat accurate financial projections when writing your business plan.

Another book about selling on eBay that I recently read and reviewed was "eBay 101" (ISBN: 0977240630). It's author also fits the category of having been there and done that and then wrote the book to share his knowledge and experiences. I highly recommend you get eBay 101 along with the book being reviewed to do your due diligence in determining if eBay retail is something for you to pursue. All three books point out that online retail sales can require a lot of your time if you are looking to make a lot of money. And that a reasonable living can be made doing it. But don't expect to get rich. 5 stars!

If you type in the word eBay on the Amazon book search panel, you'll get upwards of 14,000 hits. That's a lot of books. But after reading what seems to me, about half of them, allow me to recommend this one. There are a couple of very good books on eBay consignment selling, and if you are considering adding consignment items to your product line, read this book first! Consignment selling is a tough road, not for everyone. Here is advice from a drop off store owner who's tells his story in an educational, practical, and a refreshing opinionated (eBay might not approve) way. Get straight talk from someone who's been there, done that. Good stuff for would be eBay consignment sellers. In eBay lingo...AAAAA++++++
