This book is an infomercial This book is an infomercial for the "internet marketers" profiled in it. It seems to me that the featured marketers commissioned the author to glorify and promote them in a clever plot thinly disguised as an independent book. You will learn almost zero from this volume, but you will be amply exposed to the marketers' books, videos, seminars, and "personal coaching". And if you fall for the trap and buy or sign up, the only thing you will learn will be how to teach others to teach others to teach others, ad infinitum. There's no practical knowledge here - it reminds me of the multi-level marketing scams of yesteryear. If this book sells well will be because the profiled marketers will purchase a bunch of copies to propel the book to the charts, or because there's truth in the saying that "a sucker is born every minute."
Some good macro insights here, but few takeaways for current internet marketers I read this book hoping to want to take notes throughout and get some takeaways about how successful people have marketed and succeeded in online business. I own an offline business and would love to someday make money online with my knowledge.
But internet business has changed so much that while these stories of early successful online marketers were entertaining, they didn't hold a whole lot of concrete, specific insights to take away.
In addition, the paths to success were so circuitous that it often felt like listening to a rambling person at a party - you find them interesting but would they just cut to the chase already.
If you are at the point where you are devouring info on successful people so you can feel a connection with other people who are a success, then this is a great book to read. If you're looking for specific takeaways, beyond just the biggest concepts (automate, don't give up, etc), then try Blog Blazers or Problogger instead.
The Internet Marketing Pioneers Joel Comm begins "Click Here to Order" by describing how the Internet came into existence. I did find this part of the book somewhat dull though this wasn't necessarily the fault of the author. Like many people, I use a computer and access the Internet without fully understanding how it all works.
It's the stories of the pioneers of Internet Marketing that I was more interested in rather than the history of the Internet itself but I appreciated how the author needed to put things into context.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Internet Marketing pioneers.
The author did a quite a good job of weaving the stories around the timeline for the development of the Internet and Internet Marketing itself. And, even although I was already familiar with the history of some the Internet Marketers, Joel Comm managed to reveal details that I wasn't aware of.
The characters of Joel Comm's books are fascinating individuals from all walks of life and it is very fitting that one of their own choose to share their stories in this way.
I'd recommend that anyone thinking of doing Internet Marketing read this book. It not only provides valuable insight into the mindsets of Internet Marketing pioneers it also highlights the diverse ways in which you make money online.
A Good & Motivating Read Frankly speaking, when I bought this book, i don't expect much from it. I thought that this will be another stories collection...
But yes, it is definitely one hell of motivating stories collections!
After reading it, I can't stop thinking about IM and it really encourage me to start working on my internet business.
If you need to some push to get rid of your procrastination and laziness to work on your internet business, I recommend this book to you.

In the beginning, what a great read. . First I am ADD so even though I buy an average of 3 to 5 new books a month I very rarely read the whole book, skipping sections, or even finish the book. I can count on one hand how many I have read from front to back. This is definitely one of them.
Okay, I had to preface this because I wanted you to understand that this book is really that good. But, if you are not a teacher or interested in reading about the history of the Internet and specifically about Information Marketing then don't buy this book.
I am a teacher and love history. I was enthralled and fascinated with the stories about the pioneers of online marketing. What a great book and an inspiration to all of us.
Joel Comm does a great job here in setting the record straight and letting us know that it was not that easy. There will always be those who use the excuse "It was easier for the Guru's when this was all new".
Two thumbs up on this one and that is hard to get from me. You will have to read the book to know what it was really like when they got their start.
